This is it! The final cover for my novel. The process of getting this book released in a new and better edition has been an exciting, albeit
gut-wrenching and grueling, labor. As the day of its actual release approaches, I'm finding that keeping myself from having total panic attacks is becoming more and more difficult.
Don't get me wrong, I am excited and grateful beyond measure. However, the pages contain my heart and soul. Opening these parts of myself up to the world-at-large is quite the daunting prospect. But, because I believe it is a beautiful and powerful story, I am determined not to be thwarted by my anxiety. If only a single struggling child is empowered by its message, then I have accomplished my goal.
This is a story of a girl who lives in an imaginary world of her own creation, in order to maintain hope in a hopeless situation. As she emerges into adulthood, she finds a way to transition from an imaginary world of beauty and wonder, into an actual existence full of beauty and wonder. With the help of an eclectic cast of quirky, Southern characters, she discovers the courage to live a brilliantly fulfilling life.
This work is coming out on September 5. I hope everyone who reads this blog will also read the novel. I hope that, at the very least, it will make you feel something. I encourage all feedback...here, twitter, facebook. I want to hear your thoughts.
